Four people have been killed and at least 15 others injured after a road accident between a Shyamoli Paribahan bus and a covered van in Sirajganj.
The accident occurred as the bus was trying to overtake the van, police said.
The bus was headed from Dhaka to Gaibandha, said Bangabandhu Bridge West Police OC Syed Shahid Alam.
The bus was involved in a crash early on Saturday morning in the Sadar Upazila’s Saidabad Rehabilitation area, he said.
“Both vehicles overturned and fell into ditches on the side of the highway, killing four bus passengers. One of the dead was a woman, while the other three were men.”
Police and the fire service have rescued the victims and sent the injured to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital.
At least 15 people were injured in the accident, OC Alam said. One of them is in critical condition.
The identities of the victims have yet to be released.
