Liberation War films at all theatres in the country today

With the entire nation celebrating Victory Day, the Ministry of Information has instructed all film theatres of the country to screen Liberation War-based films. As a result, each of the 157 cinemas across the country today will screen one of the four films — Humayun Ahmed-helmed “Aguner Poroshmoni”, “Ora 11 Jon” by Chashi Nazrul Islam, Nasiruddin Yousuff’s “Guerilla” and Tauquir Ahmed’s “Joyjatra.”

This undertaking has been observed for a few years now, and the audience will have free access to the theatre halls. Tauquir Ahmed, who highly favours this initiative, stated, “Everyone should watch Liberation War films, to understand the history and events around it.”

Regarding the screening of his film “Joyjatra,” the director said, “’Joyjatra’ is the film of my dreams. We all worked immensely hard to bring it to fruition, and it gives me immense joy to know that it is one of the four films selected by the government.”

“Guerilla” actor Shatabdi Wadud also shared his thoughts on the event saying, “I cannot commend this action highly enough. Young viewers will have access to the history around the war and the formation of their countries.”
