    ‘Robber’ killed in Cumilla ‘gunfight’

    A suspected robber was killed in a reported gunfight with police at Chorghoria area of Chandina on Dhaka-Chattogram Highway in Cumilla.

    The deceased was identified as Khokon, 45, son of late Abul Hossain of Fultola village of Barguna Sadar,

    Confirming the news, DB Inspector Mohammad Iktiar Uddin said: “Tipped-off that a group of robbers were preparing to conduct a robbery at Chorghoria area on the Highway and there was an accused of Shadhan murder case, DB and Police conducted a joint drive. Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the robbers opened fire on them forcing them to fire back in self-defence that triggered a gunfight.”

    After the gunfight, bullet-hit Khokon was recovered from the spot and he was taken to Cumilla Medical College Hospital where the duty doctor declared him dead, added the Inspector.

    A case has been filed with Chandina Police Station in this connection.
